S&S Cycle, INC. Grand National® 2-2 High Exhaust Kit for Indian® motorcycle ftr 1200

It began with a partnership between S&S Cycle and Indian Motorcycle to design and launch a flat track motorcycle built off the Indian scout platform to compete in the AMA Flat Track racing series. After a year of R&D the Indian Scout FTR 750 was born. A historic 1-2-3 season podium finish in 2017 was achieved by the three racers of the Indian wrecking crew powered by the FTR 750. In 2018 the feat was repeated with the FTR750 again claiming the full podium and boasting an incredible 8 of the top 10 final ranking positions.

On the heels of the success of the FTR 750 Indian Motorcycle launched the FTR 1200, a street legal production model inspired by the FTR 750. While the OEM FTR 1200 did not feature the S&S accessory exhaust that helped to define the FTR 750, the team at S&S developed the Grand National 2-2 High Exhaust as an OEM exhaust replacement that completed the flat track “look” that critics felt the production FTR 1200 was lacking.

I served as the principle designer and project engineer for the FTR 1200 Grand National® 2-2 high performance exhaust replacement kit. The exhaust kit is fully US, Australia and Europe street legal. It is fabricated in 304 stainless steel with die formed 304 stainless steel heat shielding. I was responsible for initial conceptual design, timeline tracking and project management, costing, prototyping , manufacturing tooling, and assembly fixture design. I worked on this project as part of the talented team at S&S Cycle, inc.
